Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone in the human body, produced in the central nervous system by the pineal gland. This hormone plays an important role in regulating sleep and wakefulness hours during the day. Melatonin is a synthetically produced equivalent of a natural hormone.

Application:

Melatonin 3mg is used as an adjunct in:

  • sleep disorders related to sleep-wake rhythm disturbances, e.g. sleep disorders related to changing time zones or in connection with shift work,
  • circadian rhythm disturbances of sleep and wakefulness in blind patients.

Dosage:

Must be taken orally.

Melatonin tablets: For time zone sleep disorders: 2 mg to 3 mg of melatonin once daily at dusk, starting on the first day of travel. Continue treatment for 2-3 more days after the end of the trip.

In disorders of the circadian rhythm of sleep and wakefulness, e.g. related to shift work: 1 mg to 5 mg daily, one hour before bedtime. In circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders in blind people, take 0.5 mg to 5 mg once a day around 9:00-10:00 p.m.

This dosage also applies to long-term use of the drug. The effect of the drug is observed gradually, often after 2 weeks of taking the drug.
